About

Beau Driver is a historian of the 19th and 20th century United States who focuses on the intellectual and cultural history of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. His main research interests are in Americans’ understanding of class and work in the United States as well as the history of the workplace and cultural and gender history. Dr. Driver is currently working on several articles and a book manuscript taken from his dissertation, “The Worker: Walter Wyckoff and His Experiment in Reality,” which examines the life and work of Walter Augustus Wyckoff, professor of Economics and Sociology at Princeton University. He is also beginning research on his next project, a history of “Scientific Management.” Dr. Driver is a co-founder and editor at Erstwhile: An American History Blog.
